Appetite was released in 2011 and immediately proved to be unexpectedly in demand. Its success was not so much planned as it was intuitive: the typeface hit the mark — both visually and emotionally. It turned out to be exactly what there had already been an unconscious need for.
Its graphic naivety and roughness didn’t stand in the way — Appetite was perceived as lively and unusual, which helped it quickly become a global bestseller. With its distinctly logocentric aesthetic, the typeface became especially popular in packaging and logo design. It turned out to be the right tool for expressing visual emotion.
From its release to the present day, Appetite remains one of the most popular and recognizable Cyrillic typefaces. It has been widely imitated in attempts to recreate its effect — effectively creating a type class of its own. Some successors may be more refined, but the initial impulse came from Appetite. It set the tone, the mood — and it was the first.
Appetite Pro is the updated, professionally refined version of the original. It retains everything essential: emotion, tone, recognizable curves, warmth, energy, and its signature visual appetite. And it is now more stable, with broader language support and improved functionality.
